Tasting note
This Bordeaux red from Château Haut-Gaussens has a finely cut carmine-red colour, both brilliant
and lightly brushed. The nose has hints of game, variously spiced with cloves and truffle melting into
sweeter tones of liquorice and dried figs. The palate is soft and reveals full tannins flavoured with
plums followed by fresher, sweeter hints of red currant jelly.
Presentation
Château Haut Gaussens, restored in the 19th century, is a family property of 15 hectares of
red vines located at Vérac, a little village of 750 inhabitants, north-east of Bordeaux on the
edge of the Fronsac appellation.
Château Haut Gaussens has defended the values of craftsmanship for three generations.
Daniel Lhuillier created the property in 1941. His son, Michel, took it over in the 1970s. Since
2000, Stéphane Lhuillier, representing the third generation of this wine-making family, has been
in charge. He has undertaken a substantial restructuring of the property, including the winery,
wine tasting room and vines
