On the famous Grand Cru route, the commune of Flagey-Echezeaux is home to the Grands Echezeaux appellation
which is in fact a triangular enclave within the Echezeaux area. The vineyard here is rooted in very stony brown
limestone soil lying on hard Bathonian limestone. The combination of mainly shallow clay earth lying on limestone rock is
the origin of the powerfulness and complexity of this vineyard plot.
