Vosne-romanee 1er Les Malconsorts 2014, Bichot
Robe: Limpid, bright intense and deep ruby red with violet reflections.
Nose: Fine and complex with primary delicate and discreet woody aromas. Notes of soft fruit followed by a spicy finale.
After a few minutes, subtle notes of peppermint and cedar will develop.
Mouth: All the crispiness of Pinot Noir with a very pleasant tannic texture which smoothly envelopes the palate. Powerful
but silky tannins. Nice finale with a hint of liquorice. A promising future of complexity to look forward to on ageing.
With a meal, "Les Malconsorts" will voluptuously caress refined cuisine - almost sophisticated - which is not afraid of
contrasts but which remains down to earth. Lasagnes with thinly-sliced duck filets and parmesan, rack of lamb with
thyme, or scallop tagine with safran. The cheese platter should include mature Tomme de Savoie and aged Mimolette.
Service and keeping
Serve between 15 and 16°C (59° - 62°F)
Appreciate now or lay for many years to allow the full expression of this exceptional terroir's soul.
Not only does barrel-ageing lend aromas to the wine, but the porosity of the wood lets just the right amount of oxygen in
to allow the wine to mature.
This wine was oak barrel-aged for over one year in the estate's cellars (20 to 30% new oak). The diverse origins of the
barrels (the Tronçais, Allier and Vosges forests), their particular degree of toasting and their age all contribute to our
quest for bringing out the aromatic complexity that this special terroir has to offer.
